WCID110 Debris Pick-up Updates - Wednesday, 7/24/24 at noon

Update on debris pick-up - Wednesday, 7/24/24 at noon

Firstly, a couple of reminders:

  1. The debris pickup is a service to our residents being paid for by the District so there is not any additional out-of-pocket cost to our residents. This is not the case everywhere.

  2. Best Trash is a large company and provides services to a significant number of other areas and districts, so they are providing the most support they can to each of their customers. As more resources become available, they will be doing what they can to assist our area.

  3. What we see from a debris standpoint in our area is pretty much what happened everywhere, so dump sites are slammed with trucks and trailers nonstop everyday all day...lines are long and it takes a lot of time to make a single trip.

  4. We do not have a map of where Best Trash is picking up debris on a daily basis...they are getting into an area and loading as much as they can before they have to go unload. If we get a map showing the route, then we will share that immediately.

New updates:

  • Best Trash is hoping to get a 2nd grapple truck into our area by end of the week or this weekend. That will help a lot, but it still doesn't mean that they are going to fly through here like normal trash pick-up. The delays at the dump sites are still very long, so this is still going to take several more days if not a couple of weeks to get to everyone.

  • Best Trash is also going to send the end loader trash trucks through after they get done with normal trash pick up and they will start collecting small piles of small debris (small limbs, pine needles, leaves, etc.) There isn't a definition or image I can share that says "this is what a small pile is"...they will pick up whatever they feel like they can with the normal garbage truck. If you have a pile of mostly small stuff, you may want to bag it and chances are its going to be picked up quicker.

  • Best Trash is taking any bagged debris in whatever color bag you have...they do not care if it is black, clear, white, grey...it doesn't matter to Best Trash. If you have a pile that is mostly pine needles/leaves/small branches, if you bag those or bundle them and leave them out with normal trash pick-up, they will be picked up just like normal.

  • If your pile is on or extremely close to a mailbox, light pole, or some other physical obstruction, it is encouraged that you move it away from that obstruction as best you can. I saw one pile today of mostly small debris and leaves/pine needles that the mailbox is sticking out of the middle of a pile...they will not pick that up with a grapple hook because they would be taking the mailbox with it...its like the claw game at an arcade...its going to grab anything it can.

  • We have no word on any debris pick-up from Precinct 3 and I have not found a map outlining zones for pick-up, so if you know something about that, please feel free to share with us at office@hcwcid110.com.

If you do not want to wait for this free debris pickup service from the District and Best Trash or Precinct 3, then you can contact whomever you like and pay for them to remove your debris. Some landscapers will take it and dump it for a fee, so if you have a landscaper, you may want to ask.
