Trunk or Treat Event Updates - 10/24
TWO DAYS AWAY!!!! WCID110 Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Saturday, October 26 from 5 - 10 p.m. at Forest Oaks Park. This event is free for WCID110 residents and their guests.
The Forest Oaks Park will be closed on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. until the event starts. No use of the park is allowed while we are setting up for the event. We will unlock the gates at the start of the event.
Trunk or Treat Vehicles Still Needed
We are accepting registration for vehicles for trunk or treat, so if you are interested in decorating your vehicle and passing out candy, we would love to have you be part of the event! We really really really need more vehicles to participate. You can register by calling the office at 281-353-0998 or by using this link.
Parking Lots
Parking is going to be rough for the event. We are restricting the main park parking lot for handicap parking only and for drop off for anyone with mobility issues. You must have display a handicap parking tag to park in the main lot. The parking lots next to and in front of the Maintenance Building will be restricted to event volunteers, vendors, and staff. Each parking lot will have signage and a parking attendant present.
Parking for Event Participants
We have attached a parking map. Parking is going to be rough for the event. If you live near the park, we highly encourage you to walk to the event.
Parking is allowed:
along Cypress Oaks Dr.,
at Lemm Elementary, and,
if you are a member of the Forest Oaks Swim and Racquet Club, the upper or lower parking lots.
Parking is NOT ALLOWED on:
Joanleigh Dr.,
Chisos Trail Dr., or
at School in the Pines.
Vendor Fair
We have six local crafters who will be selling items at the event. They will be located near the sand volleyball court and we highly encourage you to check them out and support their craft! Having seen some of the items these very talented folks create, there are some wonderful holiday themed items or future birthday or Christmas gifts.
Trunk or Treat Event: 5 - 7 p.m. throughout the park
This year's event is adding some new components like a vendor fair (six local residents selling hand crafted items), two food trucks that residents can purchase food from (True Dog and Mesquite Woodfire Pizza), free drinks (soda and water) in multiple locations of the event, more games and activities facilitated by students from Klein Collins FCCLA student org., Klein Oak Student Council, and students from Strack Intermediate National Junior Honor Society. We will also have the wooden pumpkin decorating competition voting, a trackless train ride, photobooths, and our traditional trunk or treat.
Games and Activities
We have created an event map which hopefully is helpful. We will have a trackless train, a spider carousel, 9-hole putt putt course, and dozens of other games. We will have "little kid" games near front of the park and "big kid" games on the back side of Tex Stevens Lake (the big lake). Anyone can play any of the games, but we were asked if we could group them together from last year's feedback. Kids will get candy or prizes for every game they play and they can play games as often as they want!
Outdoor Movie and Haunted Trail starting at ~7:15 p.m. - 10 p.m.
This year's outdoor movie will be Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (rated PG-13). You can check out the preview of the movie by clicking on this link and you can check out a parents guide to the movie on this link if you want to see if it is appropriate for your kids. Popcorn and drinks are free during the movie.
The Wicked Woods Haunted Trail will start around 7:15 p.m. along with the outdoor movie and is 1/4 mile trail through the woods on uneven and unlevel ground. Anyone with mobility issues should use caution if you choose to walk the trail. A hayride will take groups of 15 from near Pavilion 5 to the start of the trail and that group of 15 will be broken into smaller groups of five to walk the trail at a time with a delay between smaller groups. The hayride will pick up trail goers at the end of the trail and bring them back to Pavilion 5. We do not want patrons walking on the road in the dark.
More event information is available on the event landing page, so check it out!
I want to say thanks for the Trunk or Treat Event. It was fun before and has gotten even better. Thanks for the effort and time and for making this community a great place to live.
