Forest Oaks Updates Monday, July 22 - Storm Debris Pick-up and Forest Oaks Park and Club

  • Debris Pick-up

  • WCID110 provided debris pick-up through Best Trash

  • THIS IS GOING TO TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO CLEAR DEBRIS, SO PLEASE BE PATIENT.

  • Pile your debris as high as you can. The truck will be very large and have a huge trailer. They will use a grapple arm to grab debris and put in the trailer.

  • Debris should NOT be placed in the street or blocking storm sewers.

  • The grapple truck is able to take about 1-2 blocks worth of debris at a time before it has to go unload at a dump site.

  • The wait time at dump sites is taking close to 3 hours per trip, meaning that they can make roughly 2 trips per day.

  • There is also an end loader garbage truck that is collecting bagged debris. This is not the normal trash pickup service and they are only picking up bagged debris in whatever bag it is in (black, grey, clear, white...doesn't matter to them).

  • Normal trash pick-up schedule is still Wednesdays and Saturdays and they will pick up normal trash and any bagged debris or bundled limbs just like they always do. Place normal trash away from your debris piles on trash pick-up days.

  • Precinct 3 provided debris pick-up

  • We have received no communication as to when Precinct 3 debris pick-up will be in our area so we encourage anyone wanting to know more to check the Precinct 3 website or social media accounts for information. They are clearing debris by zones but I have not been able to find a map with zones.

  • We do know that Precinct 3 is requiring any bagged debris to be in clear bags for their pick-up...again, this is not the WCID110 policy with Best Trash service. You can see Precinct 3 debris pick-up details on their website.

  • Don't want to wait?

  • Any resident can contact any company or person and pay for debris removal on their own.

  • Forest Oaks Gym

  • Open normal hours.

  • Forest Oaks Tennis Courts

  • Open normal hours.

  • Forest Oaks Pool

  • Open normal hours.

  • Forest Oaks Park

  • Park is only accessible from the Cypress Oaks Dr. entrance (front of the park).

  • Park is open from the front entrance all the way around the big lake.

  • Water fountains at the front of park and the bottle fill station at the park bathrooms are working now.

  • The bathrooms will NOT be available for several days as one tree that uprooted ruptured the water main to the park, thus no water to the bathrooms.

  • The only areas still closed are the back lake and all nature trails.

  • There is caution tape, orange barriers, and signs that say "No one allowed beyond this point" signifying the boundaries to the area that is open. DO NOT GO BEYOND THOSE BARRIERS. We have not finished clearing debris, removing widow-maker branches in the trees, and it is not safe for patrons. All nature trails in the woods are closed as we have not moved beyond the main areas of the park. If you are found beyond the barriers, Precinct 4 Constables may issue a trespass warning and remove you from the park. Do not let children wander off on their own.

  • Our staff is doing everything they can to get us back to fully operational in the park, but there is just such a huge amount of debris down and we are assessing every tree for widow-maker branches or other hazards.

  • We are lucky that there is no significant damage to the playground, bridges, or road from the storm.
